The Dark Side Of New Orleans

The Dark Side Of New Orleans

What happened to these abandoned streets in New Orleans? It almost looks like zombies invaded them and made people run away but that’s of course not the case.

In 2005 Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans and destroyed huge parts of the city. With almost half a million citizens the city rapidly lost one third of the population and that is the result of all the abandoned streets, houses, schools, gardens, etc. It almost look like nobody has lived there since forever, but a calendar in one of the buildings shows that the year is 2005 which makes sense.Still as said the houses look like they have been abandoned much longer than 5 years, but that is all because of the brutal damages that Katrina made. There are rusty pieces everywhere, parts of furniture tossed around, old toys abandoned and filthy, and so on. All of the photos were taken by Tiffany Bailey, also known as Flickr user xshamethestrongx.

Today New Orleans are recovering but still it has been a long way of struggle to get the city back on its feet, especially when it comes to rising the economy and development. Despite the tragedy and loss of many homes, a lot of film producers have now excellent areas for filming zombie and horror movies; why not when you have the whole setting set up already?
