Young And Old On Reflecting Surfaces

Young And Old On Reflecting Surfaces

If there is one thing we can’t escape it has to be time, and with time we age slowly, but would you like to see how you are going to look like 30 years from now?

Toronto-based artist Alex Kisilevich got inspired by the beauty of aging when he started the “On the Surface” project. It can remind a bit of the previous article where two models, one old and young with 70 years between them, were capture in the same situations. Still Kisilevich’s project is somewhat different. It involves taking pictures that shows the contrast between young and old. He uses reflective surfaces like mirrors, windows, plates, water, etc. to show that. For example on one photo you have a girl brushing her hair while seeing her old reflection in the mirror.

The persons are picked out carefully so they look like each other in a way, which of course makes it more realistic. Some of the photos even show how old people looked like before when they were younger. It’s a wake up call for people who don’t appreciate life; before you know it it’s over. Kisilevich was recently named a MFA Candidate for Visual Arts at New York University, and I can’t wait to see more of his future work.
