Sometimes it just takes a piece of paper and a pencil to alter the reality any way you want and make fantastic art out of it. The Belgian artist discovered that mixing…

The Ivory Coast born artist Ben Heine introduced this original concept back in 2010, with his first Pencil Vs Camera series. He combined pencil drawings with photography, taking pictures of people, interesting architecture or passages while holding a piece of paper with an imaginative drawing that corresponded to the photo in some way.

The contrast between two mediums is even stronger because most of the drawings are done in black and white, opposed to the colorful photo background. Each drawing ads a bit of surreal to the otherwise ordinary photo, depicting wild animals, mythological creatures and other figments of Heine’s imagination.

Since his first series quickly became popular thanks to the web, it was followed by two more, and the pictures you’re looking at are his latest work from Pencil Vs Camera 3 series. Heine points out that he always ads a deeper meaning to his work, using the limitless possibilities of changing the scenery with handmade drawings to make sure there’s a short story behind every photo he takes.

When these kids put their glasses on, an amazing transformation occurs. No, they don’t turn into superheroes, but into something more chic…

Very French Gangsters is a company with possibly the coolest name ever that sells eyewear for kids, which makes their name selection even more odd. The French company decided to make a break on the market with an unusual campaign, advertising their products through mug shots of a bunch of cute kids wearing glasses. The design of the eyewear ads a dash of 50s Paris to the kids’ look, combining comfort and style to make these little models look really fashionable.

With an innovative way of advertising, Very French Gangsters took selling kids’ eyewear to a whole new level, and while the parents can finally get top quality products that don’t lack style, we’re sure that the kids will love their new “gangster” look.

The first rule of eating healthy is having small meals, but we’re not sure this is what the nutritionists had in mind…Just a warning – don’t look at these pics on an empty stomach…

What looks as delicious dishes at a first glance turns out to be a collection of miniature sculptures made by an Israeli artist Shay Aaron. The jewelry designer from Tel Aviv makes incredibly realistic miniatures of different food, from sushi to cookies, mostly in 1:12 scale to the originals. They’re all hand made with such attention to detail it’s simply amazing, and it’s hard to believe they’re so small until you’ve seen these little pieces of art next to a match or a coin.

Aaron’s art is also made into wearable jewelry, so you can order all kinds of sweets and veggies he made into earrings (if you want to have green onions or red cabbage hanging from your ears for any reason), or wear food decorated necklaces and hair pins. If you want to have such an unusual piece of jewelry, contact Aaron on Facebook or Twitter and get a pair of earrings that won’t ever go unnoticed.

Some of the pop culture icons and movie characters could be identified just by their hairdos, like Marge Simpson and her skyscraper blue bun.

Patricia Povoa is a 31-year-old graphic designer from Lisbon specialized in making poster designs. Her illustrations are minimalist and effective in sending the message she’s got hidden in each series. The artist’s latest design series is named “Copyrighted Famous Hairs”, representing legendary hairdos with simplified black silhouettes. Although the design is minimalist, it’s not hard to tell the owners of the hairstyles, and if in doubt, there are copyrights with the person’s name at the bottom corner of each poster.

Patricia’s art shows how much influence pop culture has on people worldwide, because even people from different cultural backgrounds have no difficulties in identifying these whacky hair owners. Who could mistake that one curly bang on the forehead for something other than Superman’s hair? Anyway, it makes us wonder which other TV and pop stars could be represented through their hairstyles only.

Here’s some of the best known hairstyles seen as trademarks through the eyes of a Portuguese graphic artist.

The incredible Malaysian artist Cheeming Boey continues to amaze with his new work in decorating foam cups. This time he paid tribute to one of the best TV shows of all time.

If the name Walter White doesn’t ring a bell, it’s time you rented some Breaking Bad DVDs.

Cheeming Boey loves Breaking Bad so much he made portraits of show’s characters on cups as a birthday present to himself. Even though he didn’t get to make a draft and had to work on a curvy surface, Boey did a great job in making realistic portraits of Tuco and Hector Salamanca and Gus Fring. Judging by tons of positive comments from the show’s fans around the glove, Boey should do some more characters in the future.

Don’t miss other Boey’s amazing cups artwork that is inspired by things that vary from traditional Japanese art motives to the Russian Ultimate Fighting star Fedor Emelianenko.

While the word “remake” is enough for an average movie fan to frown in disgust thanks to Hollywood’s habit of shamelessly exploiting classic storylines and making mediocre movies..

..there are still some exceptions to the rule when both remake and the original movies are top quality features. Here’s a list of ten best remakes, some of which not only filled the shoes of their predecessors but turned out to be better movies than the original.

10. 3:10 To Yuma. Great performance by Russell Crowe and Christian Bale made the 2007 remake a worthy successor of the western made 40 years before. James Mangold pays tribute to the western movie classic while taking it to the next level with the deep dialogue between the two men that add another dimension to the story of a captured outlaw trying to outsmart the rancher who’s paid to escort him on a train to prison.

9. Cape Fear. Martin Scorcese ads a touch of surrealist to a tale of the convicted rapist seeking revenge on the family of the public defender who represented him on the trial and withheld crucial information believing he was guilty. In the original version, the convicted felon Max Cady goes after a man who witnessed the rape. Robert De Niro carries out the role of the psycho rapist brilliantly, and young Juliette Lewis playing the defender’s teenage daughter he’s after definitely steals the spotlight.

8. Dawn of The Dead. The second in the Living Dead series, the 1978 Dawn of the Dead was written and directed by George A. Romero. It stood out from other horror movies of the 70s thanks to the complexity of characters unusual for this movie genre, and turned into a horror classic. The 2004 remake is Zack Snyder’s directorial debut that differs from the original with zombies being pretty fast compared to the original slow walking undead hordes, which is the number one argument for fans to pick either movie as favorite.

7. Father of The Bride. The 1950 original shows Elisabeth Taylor was an experienced actress even at the age of 18, as she carries the role of the daughter getting married and causing all kinds of headaches for her father. On the other hand, Steve Martin made sure the 1991 remake could be compared to the original, filling the heartwarming story with great comedy elements.

6. Italian Job. Michael Cane at his finest in the 1969 story about the plot to steal a gold shipment in Italy by creating a traffic jam. While the original movie has more comedy elements, the 2003 remake is more action packed, with the plot moved from Italy to the United States. Big names like Charlize Teron and Edward Norton in supporting roles make the newer version interesting to watch.

5. Oceans 11. One of the rare cases when the remake actually has a better plot than the original, as well as the acting performance. In fact, these two movies don’t share much besides the title and the basic plot. The 1960 original spinned around Frank Sinatra and his gang using the singer’s popularity to attract the audience while lacking a good story without holes. On the other hand, the 2001 version of the biggest Las Vegas casino robbery attempt has gathered some of the biggest stars of our time like Brad Pitt and George Clooney, and unlike the famous singer, these people can really act.

4. Ring. Horror movies fans have probably had most old vs. new debates over The Ring, or Ringu as the original title goes. You’d think that a Hollywood remake of the Japanese horror movie couldn’t turn into anything good, but the 2002 version not only proved to be a huge success but did what only a few remakes managed to do and outshone the original. With the disturbing scenography and amazing casting, The Ring is an excellent horror movie, while Ringu is more of a shocking film with a less coherent scenario which makes it less scary than the remake.

3. Scarface. Although the original 1932 Scarface is a great movie about a downfall of an ambitious gangster on his way to the top, the 1983 remake is not only an amazing movie but a legendary classic. Oliver Stone wrote a masterpiece screenplay whose lines have been quoted for decades now, and Brian De Palma proved his directing genius turning the gangster classic into something much more. The unforgettable Al Pacino as raging Tony Montana is one of the most famous gangster roles ever to be portrayed on the silver screen.

2. Seven Samurai. Kurosawa’s classic about a village that hires 7 samurai to protect them from bandits who plan on stealing their crops is turned into a story of a Mexican village that assembles the army of seven gunfighters to fight the army of bandits that have been terrorizing them for years. John Sturges managed not only to Americanize the plotline and lose nothing in the process, but to create a masterpiece of its kind. Great names like Yul Brynner and Charles Bronson, epic gunfight scenes – The Magnificent Seven is all you need in a western drama.

1. The Thing. When debating the original vs. remake movies, most movie buffs will agree on one thing – there is no doubt The Thing from 1982 is among the best remakes ever made. John Carpenter makes the story about people in the Antarctic outpost getting killed one by one by a shape shifting alien packed with suspense, keeping your eyes pinned to the screen until the very last second of the movie. One of Kurt Russell’s best roles and an epic horror movie that is a must see whether you’re a fan of the genre or not.

If there were such a thing as the parenting of the year award, it should definitely end up in the hands of the imaginative parents who surprised their daughter with this room.

During the renovation of the house, the lucky 9-year-old girl’s parents realized there was some extra space next to her room and came up with the most amazing idea- to turn it into a Narnia-like space, the hidden entrance naturally being through the wardrobe. What seems like a regular girl’s room unveils its secret once the wardrobe door are opened. Through the passage lies the room they painted with motives from Narnia including a big portrait of the lion Aslan. The furry white rug on the floor is to simulate the snow covered paysage, so the whole room would look more authentic.

An amazing and creative idea brought to life by these awesome parents went viral on the internet when their friend uploaded pictures of it on reddit, under the username kelseypolo. One thing is for certain – there’ll be kids waiting in line for a sleepover party at this little girl’s house.

Those incredible panoramic 360 degree pics are really stunning, and if you thought you needed to be a professional with special equipment to make them, you’re wrong!

We offer you a few tips on how to easily create your own 360 degree pictures!

All you need is a SLR camera, a tripod and any software for making 360 degree pictures, which are all easy to buy for an affordable price. Find an interesting panorama to shoot, with one or several objects to focus on or a paysage specific for its colorfulness. The best time to shoot is between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. to avoid shadows and enable enough natural light in the picture. Place the camera on the tripod and take the first shot, then rotate it clockwise so that the next frame overlaps the first one by 30-50 percent.

Most cameras nowadays have the “panorama” setting that provides guidelines on overlapping shots and makes things even simpler. Keep taking shots until you’ve reached a full circle, and now it’s up to the software to make these shots into one great looking panorama. Easy as pie!
Now all you need to do is upload your masterpiece online so you can brag about it to your friends, or use it to try to score a date with your hot artsy/hipster crush.
