Toothpick Miniature Sculptures

Toothpick Miniature Sculptures

With some tweezers, razor blades and glue it is possible to make a mini White House and other landmark replicas out of only one toothpick. Now, that is what you call delicate work.

Artist Steven J. Backman has made landmark replicas of everything from the Eiffel Tower and Golden Gate Bridge to Empire State building and Brooklyn Bridge. Each of the sculptures are smaller than a toothpick because as already said, he uses only one of them and nothing else on each replica. The sculptures are so fragile that they will get crushed if you don’t pick them up very carefully. Backman has been creating toothpick sculptures since he was a child. He thinks that toothpicks and glue are both fascinating and challenging mediums to create unusual pieces of art.

He loves to create something with his own hands that no one has seen until now, and even if it can be a lot of hard work sometimes, Backman enjoys sitting by his table for hundreds of hours just working on one toothpick. Other wood sculptures that looks something like those ones made of toothpicks, only in a way bigger format, are these amazing wood installations.
