Homemade Daft Punk Replica Helmet

Homemade Daft Punk Replica Helmet

Daft Punk has probably the coolest helmets ever. They look futuristic, metallic and just awesome, and finally someone decided to make a replica of it but with a twist.

You would be surprised to know that the helmet was made by someone who have never sculpted anything. I’m talking about an ordinary guy that got excited after the TRON:Legacy movie and thought about making himself a real-size Daft Punk helmet. It turned out to be awesome; he even put in great LED lights and a remote on one side of the helmet so he can control the lights at any time. He started with cardboard that gave the helmet a sketch-like shape, then putting foam on it and shaping before sculpting it with some clay and cutting out the sides to put in MDF that is some kind of soft tree material.

When that was done he colored the helmet and fixed all the rough surfaces before putting in all the LED banks, etc. He also made it look blank so if looks like it’s made out of some sort of expensive materials or metals. The result is surreal and personally I think it turned out to be much cooler than the real Daft Punk helmets. Another guy has sculpted real size 3D heads out of paper that looks amazingly realistic.

I have been a Daft Punk fan since forever, and after the Tron movie I’m even more obsessed, so if this guy would like to sell that helmet… *wishwish*

Here Awesomenator, at least give a link to the guy who made these if you’re going to make a post about his work.
He’s currently working on the other Daft Punk Helmet.
