3D Paper Sculptures

3D Paper Sculptures

A good example on creative paper art are these 3D paper sculptures that look frighteningly realistic if it weren’t for the visible black lines that divides the paper.

It is not the first time someone is making a copy of their head by using different materials; this designer made his own head look like an 8-bit figure. Not as detailed as the 3D paper sculptures I’m representing to you right now but you get the point. The artist who did these 3D paper heads is the talented Bert Simons from Rotterdam, Netherlands.

He has made the human heads look like characters in some video game with great graphics, and it does take time to make one, that is for sure, but it’s mostly computer work. First he puts several black dots on the model’s face so he can easily scan the data into his computer where he reconstructs the whole thing with a 3D software. Then he flattens the texture in 2D and prints the pieces out before he puzzles them together into the finished product. The most fun part is that you can be a part of it by making your own “Bert” by downloading the pdf file that you can find on his website.
